Kim Dotcom considered a severe flight risk due, alleges police brutality

Megaupload founder denied bail

The founder of Megaupload, Kim Dotcom, has been denied bail in his ongoing battle against extradition to the United States.

According to Torrent Freak, Dotcom had appealed for bail due to health related issues – thought to be diabetes – and to spend time with his pregnant wife.

However, he was denied on the grounds that his ownership of a helicopter and private plane made him a severe flight risk.

Dotcom also alleged that New Zealand police has acted with brutality during the course of his arrest after he was found hiding in a safe room.

“I was punched in the face, I was kicked down on the floor. One guy was standing on my hand so my nail was ruptured and my hand was bleeding, it was quite aggressive,” he told the court.

He will appear in court again on February 22nd for his extradition hearing.
