Dell’s exit from the sub 14-inch notebook category was short lived as the US-based PC builder launched a 13-inch Dell XPS 13 ultrabook at the CES show.
Set to be available with a wide range of specifications, the entry level will be decked out with an Intel Core i5 processor, 4GB of RAM and a 128GB solid state drive. The first units to arrive will based on Sandy Bridge while Ivy Bridge models will follow later in the year.
The dinky little number turns to Intel’s HD 3000 integrated graphics so you will not be playing any fancy games with this model but for every day browsing and productivity, like all ultrabook-spec devices it’s going to be a quantum leap ahead of netbooks.
Dell also said the XPS 13 is good for around eight hours of battery life and will be priced at the pointy end of the ultrabook market at around $1,000. Before you go upgrading anything, that is.
The Dell XPS 13 is set to go on sale in February.
