Spotify is due to make a major announcement today regarding the future of its music streaming service.
Concrete facts are thin on the ground, but the firm will be making the ‘exciting’ announcement’ at 16.55 GMT, where all should be revealed.
The rumour mill has thrown out a few possibilities of what might be announced, such as video streaming and music downloads.
The most common assumption however is that it will launch something akin to an app store, which would allow third parties to develop software that works with the streaming service.
Upshots of this that have already been banded about include social media integration, and the ability of other music based businesses to create ‘channels’ within Spotify.
