9th of November launch for quad-core Android tablet

Asus Transformer Prime will be first to feature Nvidia Kal-El

Nvidia’s next generation quad-core system-on-chip code named Kal-El will make a tablet debut with the Asus Eepad Transformer Prime.

Asus Chairman Johnny Shih unveiled the new Transformer Prime announced the new device at the All Things Digital conference in Hong Kong last week. If you’re willing to put up with the annoying interviewer, you can see that video on YouTube.

The 10-inch, 8mm thick tablet will arrive on the 9th of November, having been delayed due to addition software optimisation for the quad-core Nvidia processor.

Shih also revealed that the tablet would offer 14.5 hours of battery life and holding up the device, Shih showed off an all brushed aluminium body reminiscent of the firm’s Zenbook product line. Also visible were USB, mini HDMI and SD card ports.

Asus also confirmed that the new Android Ice Cream Sandwich would be made available for the firm’s Eee Pad series of Android tablets but couldn’t provide a date as to when it might happen.
