Will WH Smith offer the Vox too?

New Kobo Vox Android tablet

Canadian retailer Kobo has unveiled a new Android-based Kobo Vox table and ebook reader with 7-inch touch screen

While Amazon have seemingly downplayed any Android credentials in the firm’s own range of Android-based devices, the Kindle Fire, Kobo highlighted internet connectivity and social applications as the selling point for the Kobo Vox.

"Kobo Vox is the reader for your connected life, and opens the door to the next generation of eReading – social eReading – where books can come alive in color and conversation," said Kobo CEO Michael Serbinis.

Like the other Kobo devices, the Kobo Vox will be compatible with the Kobo eBook store with 2.5 million books and the device will also be available in Hot Pink, Lime Green, Ice Blue and Jet Black colours.

British retailer WH Smith recently announced that the firm would begin offering Kobo eReaders as the retailer hopes to compete against the popular Amazon Kindle.

It’s not known if WH Smith will carry the Kobo Vox but it seems likely. The device is priced in the US at $199 and is available through Best Buy.
