Exceeds 600,000 of the iPhone 4

iPhone 4S gets one million pre-orders on first day

Apple has reported that iPhone 4S pre-orders reached a million within 24 hours of the smartphone unveil.

The million milestone is comfortably in excess of the 600,000 ordered by the Apple faithful on the day of the previous iPhone 4 launch.

"We are blown away with the incredible customer response to iPhone 4S," said Apple marketing boss Philip Schiller.

"The first day pre-orders for iPhone 4S have been the most for any new product that Apple has ever launched and we are thrilled that customers love iPhone 4S as much as we do."

The iPhone 4S will go on sale at the firm’s retail outlets on Friday.
