The founder of Canalys, Steve Brazier, has told attendees at this years Canalys Channels Forum that cloud services are only worth around five per cent of the global IT market.
On top of this claim was the projection that cloud services were likely to comprise only eight per cent of the global market by 2015.
However, he was keen to stress that although this figure is a relatively small percentage, it’s a percentage of an industry that is worth around $1.7 trillion. This means that there is ample room for cloud service providers to grow and he urged delegates to aim for ten per cent growth.
“The IMF are predicting growth of four per cent in 2011 and has similar projections for 2012,” said Brazier. “This is the scenario to plan for, so aim for ten per cent growth in mature economies.”
