Japanese notebook giant Toshiba has unveiled a 7-inch Android Honeycomb tablet called the Thrive 7".
Offering a 7-inch LED-backlight screen and 1280 x 800 resolution, the diminutive tablet promises to offer some pretty crisp visuals via the higher pixel density.
Elsewhere the specs will not surprise too much with the ubiquitous Android Honeycomb 1GHz dual-core Nvidia Tegra chipset 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, mini HDMI and USB slots as well as an SD reader.
With Toshiba deciding Thrive was a bit lively for the European market, it sees likely the 7-inch model will also adopt a similarly dull name as the AT100 of the larger model. The Toshiba AT70, dare we say?
Toshiba didn’t talk pricing but the device is expected to arrive in the US in October and will be offered with an array of accessories including various cases, a charger doc and a Bluetooth keyboard.
The timing seems curious, given Amazon is widely expected to announce the firm’s much vaunted entry into Android tablets. The Toshiba will inevitably the higher specced device, and doubtless the more expensive device too which is probably why they chose not to raise the subject.
