PC release set for 2012

New Syndicate game finally confirmed

One of the worst kept secrets in the games industry is out – developer Starbreeze is indeed working on a brand new Syndicate game for EA.

The publisher has given it a release date of early 2012 on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.

Coming in the wake of Deus Ex’s worldwide chart success, it’s perhaps no surprise to see the title described as “a unique and brutal sci-fi first-person shooter experience set in a not too distant future, where business is war”.

The original Syndicate debuted on PC in 1993 courtesy of Peter Molyneux’s UK studio Bullfrog. It took the form of an isometric, real-time RPS where players took charge of a group of four genetically enhanced cyborgs, out to fight for their owning corporation.

This new game perhaps takes the obvious route in shunning the staples of the series and instead goes down the first person shooter route.
