Internet giant Google has axed 10 products as CEO Larry Page continues a strategy of streamlining the firm’s product development.
Detailing the plans in a blog post called "A fall spring-clean", a number of Google products were revealed as heading for the chopping block. The sites will either vanish altogether or have features rolled into existing Google services.
The Aardvark Q&A service, Google Desktop software, Fast Flip news content browsing service, Flash API for Google Maps, Google Pack downloadable software and Google Web Security were some of the products to go.
Many of the services will hardly be known to many Google uses such as Sidewiki, Image Labeler and Notebook. Some, however, had commercial users such as Google Security. Google said that the service was being migrated to other offerings such as Google Chrome.
"We’ve never been afraid to try big, bold things, and that won’t change. We’ll continue to take risks on interesting new technologies with a lot of potential," said Google veep Alan Eustace.
"By targeting our resources more effectively, we can focus on building world-changing products with a truly beautiful user experience."
