Set to offer replacement for abandoned WebOS

Cyanogenmod team demos CM7 on HP TouchPad

The team behind CyanogenMod have released a video showing an early version of the modified Android operating system running on the HP TouchPad.

The Cyanogenmod team told Android enthusiast site RootzWiki that the video demonstration was a "blatant publicity stunt" designed to highlight the teams need for additional TouchPad tablets to continue their efforts to bring Android to the TouchPad.

"Our ultimate vision is to create a *multiboot* solution where the end user will be able to boot into WebOS, Cyanogenmod, and/or other OSes," the team said.

The Cyanogenmod team said they have been working with members of the WebOS development community to "make it easy for an end-user to set up."

The team warned Android fans not to ask for a date when the port might be completed. "It will certainly be a long while before our goals become reality."
