Android Ice Cream Sandwich images leaked

Leaked details and images purporting to be of the new major Android operating system Ice Cream Sandwich have appeared.

Appearing on Android enthusiast sites rootzwiki.com and androidpolice.com, the snapshots of what’s claimed to be a Nexus S running Ice Cream Sandwich show a new blue-tinged user interface.

Other claimed features of the mobile operating system are the addition of a panorama mode to the built-in camera application, a re-themed Gmail, Google search bar at the top similar to Honeycomb.

The widgets and desktop launcher have a similar layout to Gingerbread but the graphic style is something like the tablet-only Honeycomb.

The release being dubbed ‘ICS’ (Android version number is not yet known), is expected to appear first on the next official Google ‘Nexus’ branded phone often referred to as the ‘Nexus Prime’. That’s no large stretch since it’s the same strategy for former versions of Android.

One interesting UI element is a bottom-right tray-like icon which could represent a better way to switch between applications instead of the long-press on Home with the current version of Android.
