Kingston launches HyperX range of SSDs

Memory maker Kingston announced that the firm has begun shipping the HyperX SSD, the firm’s first SATA 3 SSD.

Featuring the SandForce SF-2281 controller, the HyperX SSD manages an impressive 555MB/s read and 510MB/s sequential write performance.

Two sizes are available, a 120GB and 240GB model, with the range aimed at the performance enthusiast PC market. Kingston said that when configuring HyperX SSD partitions, the user can "choose between having the maximum available capacity for data storage or giving up a little space to increase performance and endurance."

The drives are available now in the US market priced at $270 for the 120GB and $500 for the 240GB model, no European availability and pricing was announced.
