The 'full desktop experience' of a dog slow Intel Atom

Razer Switchblade 7-inch gaming concept has Intel CPU

Gaming brand Razer unveiled a new Razer Switchblade portable gaming concept device based on the Intel Atom processor.

The Razer Switchblade so-called concept is a portable gaming device which Razer says is designed to allow gamers to play on the move without giving up the "precision and control normally associated with desktop gaming."

The device integrates a multi-touch 7-inch screen, an innovative adaptive tactile keyboard and Intel Atom Z690 running at 1.70 GHz. The firm claims the device can deliver ‘the full desktop experience’ although we warrant that would be a pretty neat trick with a slothenly Atom processor.

"PC gaming on a truly mobile platform has not been possible before the Razer Switchblade," said Razer boss Min-Liang Tan.

"Our work with Intel allowed us to not only optimize the performance of the hardware on this concept device, but also lay the foundation for future products that will fully utilize the innovative technologies first developed on the Razer Switchblade concept."

Bizarrely Razer says the device "will not be made available for purchase" but the firm will apparently be " working with selected partners to design and launch products based off the Razer Switchblade concept design."
