TCR PC World store to offer Android tab a day early

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 goes on sale next week

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Android tablet is set to appear in the UK next week with London’s PC World and Currys selling the tablet a day early.

Techradar reports that the new Samsung Android tablet will go on sale a day early at the flagship Tottenham Court Road store at 5pm on should head down to the flagship store at next week, 5pm on Wednesday the 3rd of August to be precise.

Other retailers and the rest of the DGI group stores will begin officially selling the Android Honeycomb-powered tablet on Thursday the 4th.

Somewhat confusingly another Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 model, carrying the ‘v’ postfix, was previously set to go on sale via Vodafone but Samsung appears to have axed the thicker model, instead going with the thinner ‘non v’ model, thought to have been ‘inspired’ by Apple’s iPad 2. The firm removed the high-spec 8 megapixel rear camera in the slim-down.

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 otherwise is much like the other Honeycomb tablets, based on a 1GHz dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor. It does not, however, have a USB port.

The base Wi-Fi only model will apparently be offered for £399. There’s no word o the price of the 3G model.
