Fake Apple Stores found in China

An American blogger living in China has revealed the existence of a number of fake Apple stores in the provincial city of Kunming.

The blog Bird Abroad reported that the stores are virtually identical to their legitimate counterparts, but were let down by a few minor details.

“It looked like an Apple store. It had the classic Apple store winding staircase and weird upstairs sitting area. The employees were even wearing those blue t-shirts with the chunky Apple name tags around their necks,” reported the blogger. However she also noted that: “some things were just not right: the stairs were poorly made. The walls hadn’t been painted properly.”

Despite this, the staff all apparently believed they genuinely worked for Apple, and even allowed the bloggers to take a number of photos after the Westerners told them they were US Apple employees.
