PC gaming maestros Valve announced that the digital distribution platform Steam has introduced support for Free to Play games.
Appearing with the announcement are five free to play launch titles: Spiral Knights, Forsaken Worlds, Champions Online: Free for All, Global Agenda: Free Agent, and Alliance of Valliant Arms (AVA).
"Free to Play games offer new game genres and game experiences for customers, while offering developers and publishers new revenue opportunities and the ability to reach customers in areas of the world where the traditional packaged goods model is less popular than F2P," said Valve biz dev man Jason Holtman.
In a typical Valve-style launch event, each of the five launch titles will offer exclusive in-game content to gamers who try the "F2P game of the day" on Steam.
The game developers hope to earn a crust through in game transactions via Steam’s ‘micro-transaction backend system’ which enables charging of small beans for in-game goodies.
