Hama looks to utilise strong European presence to support push in to UK technology markets

German accessories behemoth targets UK

The UK arm of German manufacturing and distribution giant Hama is looking to leverage its huge presence in Europe here in the UK.

The company’s range of IT, photographic, and audio visual accessories are well established brands across the continent – but as yet they haven’t achieved the same level of penetration here in the UK.

The firm – which distributes its own products – will be looking to change that over the next year, with a concerted drive to grow its retailer base and consumer brand awareness. Nick Grey, managing director of Hama UK said: “Our strategy for the UK is to replicate the unrivalled success of our colleagues in Europe by leveraging the facilities and expertise on display at our Hausmesse. We are available to discuss how we can add value to businesses in all channels and welcome the opportunity to present our proposition to both new and current retailers alike.

The Hama brand is recognised in Europe by the consumer and seen in the same light as Microsoft, Logitech
and other premium brands. The opportunity exists in the UK for Hama to develop a similar brand equity.”

The firm last month held its annual Hama Hausmesse, for which it invites over a thousand customers and channel partners from around the world to its HQ in Monheim, Bavaria, to see its latest products lines and meet the regional staff.

“The Hausmesse is our opportunity to launch new products as well as draw attention to existing areas,” added Grey. “It is also a chance for many to experience Bavarian hospitality at it’s finest! Overall the event in Germany was a great success for Hama UK and for the group as a whole, with visitors attending from all corners of Europe.
