Flash specialist SanDisk announced new solid state drives (SSDs) which the firm said were the smallest and fastest drives for tablets and ultra-thin notebooks.
The SanDisk SSD U100 Drive for Ultra-Thin Notebooks is available in a range of form factors including half-slim SATA SSD, mSATA, mSATA mini and 2.5-inch cased. SanDisk said the SATA III-equipped U100 delivers performance with up to 450MB/sec sequential read and up to 340MB/sec sequential write speeds.
The drive is available in 8GB to 256GB capacities and the firm said OEMs were already integrating the new SSD into next-generation mobile computing devices.
The firm’s iSSD drives are compact ball grid array parts designed for integrating into tablet computers. SanDisk said the iSSD can improve tablet sideloading rates, multitasking capabilities, real-time gaming experience and multimedia synchronization while also extending battery life.
