Microsoft hits back at Intel Windows 8 incompatibility claims

Microsoft has hit back at Intel claims that the software giant’s Windows 8 operating system for ARM would not offer compatibility with existing software.

The firm issued a statement saying that Intel’s claims were "factually inaccurate and unfortunately misleading."

Speaking at an Intel investor meeting, vice president Renée James said that Windows 8 running on competiting architectures, namely ARM, would "not be running legacy applications. Not now. Not ever."

Other than refuting Intel’s claims, Microsoft didn’t go into any more detail other than reiterating that the software was in a "technology demonstration phase."

"As such, we have no further details or information at this time."

Other than Intel being wrong, that is.
