Says broadcasters still don't offer enough 3D content

Samsung launches free 3D TV service

Korean electronics giant Samsung announced that the firm is to launch a 3D video-on-demand service in the UK.

The new service will be available through the Samsung Smart Hub in the firm’s range of internet connected televisions. A range of programming including films, documentaries and music videos will be offered.

"The demand for 3D is growing rapidly, but only a handful of channels are providing content," said Samsung UK boss Andy Griffiths told the Telegraph.

"Samsung has led the 3D LED TV market since it launched last year, and the roll-out of our 3D video-on-demand service demonstrates our commitment to accelerating its growth."

The content will be available through the firm’s Explore 3D application which can be downloaded from Samsung for owners of compatible sets.
