Lets you add upcoming shows to your calendar

YouTube launches Live video service

Google’s video hosting website YouTube has begun hosting live streams on a new portal called YouTube Live.

The new site at www.youtube.com/live already shows a list of what’s playing now as well as upcoming streams. The service also allows adding the upcoming shows to Google Calendar, Outlook and iCal.

The service intends to stream concerts, sporting events and interviews as it has on the past but also has plans to begin rolling out a new live streaming beta platform.

The live beta program will "allow certain YouTube partners with accounts in good standing to stream live content on YouTube," the firm posted on the YouTube blog.

"The goal is to provide thousands of partners with the capability to live stream from their channels in the months ahead."
