One dead, two arrested in botched Apple Store robbery

A would-be iPad thief was shot and killed in an botched buglary at an Apple Store in San Diego (pictured) on Monday.

Two men and one woman reportedly attempted a smash and grab, according to a local news report, but they were interrupted by an armed security guard Jose Jimenez.

As the thieves attempted to get away by car, gunfire was exchanged between the men and the security guard. The driver was reportedly struck by gunfire resulting in the car crashing in the shopping center car park. 

The driver died in the crash and the remaining supects were later arrested at the scene in drama that forced local schools to be "placed on lockdown" according to the report.
