April 5th for Iconia Tab A500 and W500

Acer to launch Android and Windows tablets in April

Acer announced that the firm’s Android-based Iconia Tab A500 will appear in UK retail on the 8th of April, launching along side the Windows-based Iconia Tab W500.

The A500 device, first seen at Mobile World Congress in February, is a 10.1-inch tablet based on Android 3.0 Honeycomb and Nvidia’s dual-core Tegra 2 chipset.

The Wi-Fi only Iconia Tab A500 will cost around £449 while the 3G-equipped Iconia Tab A501 will be priced at £549. £50 more than the Wi-Fi only and 3G-equipped versions of the Apple iPad 2 which launches today.

Interestingly the Windows and AMD Fusion-powered Iconia Tab W500 will launch at the same price but the add-on keyboard is an extra £90 or £529 for a bundle at purchase time.
