Mozilla has released the 12th and final beta version of the Firefox 4 browser before the introduction of a release candidate.
Mozilla engineering boss Damon Sicore told developers that the beta 12 version release had been accelerated and the next step is the fix the remaining bugs.
"After this, we’re in RC mode, constantly watching the nomination queues for incoming bugs from this last beta," Sicore posted on Google Groups.
"Our goal is to build a free and open web for everyone, and this is how we do it."
The firm also created the canweshipyet.com website which shows the current status of Firefox 4 bugs. At time of writing it showed 15 ‘hard blockers’ with five of those needing a software patch to be written to affect a fix.
The number of bugs has actually risen slightly since the page was put live, presumably the result of feedback from the new beta 12.
The latest beta version is available for download from this page.
