Microsoft has launches the LifeCam HD-3000 high-definition web cam with a 720p-capable sensor.
The new LifeCam HD-3000 offers 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio, noise cancelling microphone and a universal attachment base. The new camera also adjusts the image automatically in order to deliver "bright and colourful video" in a variety of lighting conditions, Microsoft said.
Microsoft specifically call out compatibility with IM-clients such as Windows Life Messenger as well as Skype. A cmputer with an Intel dual-core 3.0GHz CPU is necessary to make VGA video calls while a 3.0GHz CPU and 2GB of RAM is needed to make high definition video calls.
The LifeCam HD-3000 is set to go on sale for $39.95 in the US. No European pricing and availability was announced but retailer Amazon.co.uk is listing the webcam for £28.57 with a 2nd of March release date.
