Chipmaker AMD has launched a new marketing campaign designed to capitalise on Intel’s Cougar Point chipset flaw.
The "Ready. Willing. And Stable." campaign was designed to help channel partners and enthusiasts build their dream PCs today, AMD said. The campaign includes a raft of online marketing and competitions aimed at stimulating PC component demand.
As part of the campaign, AMD bought up display advertising from a raft of technical sites such as www.hardocp.com, www.hothardware.com, www.legitreviews.com and www.ixbt.com.
The advertising directs readers towards an AMD site which aims to compare the chipmaker’s products with Intel’s.
AMD are also set to launch a Twitter contest during the week beginning Monday the 21st of February which will run for 8 to 10 weeks. Winners can expect prizes including AMD products and PC gamers.
Competition details will appear at www.amd.com/stable next week.
Meanwhile Intel has begun shipping of the bug-fixed "B3 stepping" of 6-series chipset to the leading notebook and mainboard manufacturers.
