Only Samsung and Apple see shipment growth

Macbook orders double

Orders for models of Apple’s Macbook have doubled in some cases, at the same time as shipments of other notebooks have been modest,Asian manufacturers have claimed.

Apple and Samsung have continued strong in the first quarter of this year but shipments from other vendors have not met expectations.

The report from Digitimes confirms Apple’s recent gain of market share, especially with the recent release of their latest version of their ’ultra-thin’ laptop, the Macbook Air, which is likely to be one of the models shipping well.

Acer are expected to see notebook sales drop soon after they posted the lowest notebook shipment numbers in six quarters in the fourth quarter of 2010, Apple, meanwhile, sold a record 4.13 million Macs in the same period.

Speculation continues on new models of Apple’s iMac and Macbook Pro’s which are expected to carry Intel’s delayed Sandy Bridge processors.
