Report claims half the board is on the firing line

Nokia boss Elop plans ‘radical management shake-up’

Nokia is set to replace a number of senior management figures in ‘radical’ management shake-up according to a report in the German magazine Wirtschaftswoche.

Citing unnamed sources within Nokia, Wirtschaftswoche (Business Week) reported that new Nokia CEO Stephen Elop is planning a ‘radical restructure’ which may see as many as half of the board ejected.

The report claims that Nokia phone boss Mary MacDowell and logistics boss Niklas Savander are in the firing line, including so-called ‘followers’ of former CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo.

Headhunters have reportedly been recruited to seek out executives with strong software experience, signaling a shift away from Nokia’s famously hardware-centric strategy as the firm struggles to compete with Apple and Android in the high-end smartphone business.
