New version of popular video reformatting tool

HandBrake 0.9.5 video transcoder released

A new version of the popular HandBrake cross-platform video transcoding tool has been released, adding features such as BluRay disc structure support.

Version 0.9.5 of the open source video transcoding software boasts an update to video encoder libraries such as x264 and ffmpeg as well as adding MP3 and subtitles in MP4 files, adding AC3 surround sound encoding and ‘many bug fixes and small improvements.

The HandBrake software is able to read almost any multimedia file and convert, or ‘transcode’, them to popular formats for viewing on portable devices, videogaming consoles or computer playback. 

PC, Mac and Linux GUIs have a new updated x264 settings ‘advanced’ panel and a new ‘batch scan’ mode is able to scan multiple files at once while the GUI has also been updated with the ability to edit queue jobs.

HandBrake 0.9.5 has also added a new audio downmix feature so that all types of audio in the source videos can be downmixed to fewer channels such as stereo.

Windows, Mac and Linux versions are available for download on this page, the Windows version installer is 5.7MB.
