Genuine call following download of 10 billionth application

Woman hangs up on Apple $10,000 prize call

A British woman hung up on an Apple representative calling to inform the Gail Davis that she had won $10,000 for downloading the 10 billionth iPhone application.

Davis told the Apple representative "Thank you very much; I’m not interested", understandably skeptical of winning a prize out of the blue.

However the prize was in fact genuine and the landmark application was apparently the free Paper Glider game downloaded by one of the woman’s daughters.

"The more I thought about it, the more I realized it was a genuine call," Davis told CNET. "The girls were getting quite tense. They never would have forgiven me. They would have held it against me for all eternity."

Fortunately Apple called back and presumably Ms Davis has been forgiven by her daughters.
