Microsoft has decided to give away the software giant’s student focused calculator software Mathematics.
The firm previously offered the software as a commercial software package called Microsoft Math but a new version of the software has appeared, renamed to Microsoft Mathematics 4.0, and is now available to download free of charge.
Microsoft Mathematics provides a set of mathematical tools to help students learn to solve equations step-by-step while gaining a better understanding of fundamental concepts in pre-algebra, algebra, trigonometry, physics, chemistry, and calculus.
There’s also a full-featured graphing calculator which the firms says is designed to work just like a handheld calculator. The app requires the .NET framework installed but works on Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP. 32 and 64-bit versions are provided.
