Steve Ballmer hints at Windows support for gaming platform

Kinect coming to PC?

Microsoft’s CEO Steve Ballmer has hinted that the Kinect motion sensor gaming platform may be coming to the PC.

Asked by a BBC reporter if users would be able to hook the device up to a PC, Ballmer replied: “We’ll support that in a formal way in the right time and when we’ve got an announcement to make we’ll make it.”

Kinect has been the most successful of the various motion sensor devices to hit the market over the Christmas period. Although it is designed to work with the Xbox 360, some users have been able to crack their devices to work on any machine with a USB port.

It should also be noted that the company that originally designed Kinect, PrimeSense, has teamed up with Asus to develop a similar device for PC.
