Software giant joins scheme to create new employment opportunities

Microsoft aims to create 4,000 jobs

Microsoft is participating in a Downing Street Summit, hosted by the Prime Minister, that aims to bring together some of the UK’s biggest brands in a bid to discuss plans to create thousands of new employment opportunities.

Microsoft has claimed they will create 4,000 extra jobs this year, whilst other firms including supermarket chains Morrisons, Tescos, Sainsburies and Asda say they can contribute thousands of extra jobs each.

"We can only get our economy back on track by creating a climate in which the private sector can grow and develop, creating jobs and opportunities for people across the country," said the Prime Minister.

"This year the Government is determined to help deliver many thousands of new jobs and I’m delighted that the companies joining me today are part of that."
