Samsung is set to unveil an iPod Touch competitor at the CES 2011 show next month in the form of the Android-powered Galaxy Player, similar to the firm’s Galaxy S smartphone.
Reportedly coming in 8, 16 and 32GB storage capacities, the Samsung Galaxy Player is just 9.9mm thick, runs Android 2.2 and is equipped with the 1GHz Samsung ‘Hummingbird’ CPU and a 4-inch LCD with 800 x 480 screen resolution.
Looking very much like a Samsung Galaxy S minus the 3G phone features, the device does however have Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0 and two cameras: a 3.2 megapixel rear-facing camera and VGA resolution forward camera.
GPS is also built-in as well as a microSD card slot and in a similar move to Apple, the Galaxy S Player will run applications from the Samsung Apps store.
