Gorillaz release iPad-made album

British music act Gorillaz has produced an album entirely on the iPad, available for free from the band’s web site.

Called “The Fall”, the album was produced by an array of iPad applications which include: Speak It!, SoundyThingie, Mugician and Solo Synth. Gorillaz said the album was recorded on the road from Montreal to Vancouver via Seattle, Texas and Toronto over 32 days on their North American Tour.

“I did it because there’s a lot of time that you just spend staring at walls essentially. And it was a fantastic way of doing it,” said Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn.

“I found working in the day, whether it’s in the hotel or in the venue, it was a brilliant way of keeping myself well.”

A physical CD release is planned for later in 2011 but the album can now be downloaded for free from the Gorillaz web site if the visitor agrees to sign up to a mailing list. See below for a video of the first track.
