iTunes 10.1.1 update causes upgrade woes

Some users of Apple’s iTunes music software have found that the application crashes on start up after installing the 10.1.1 update.

The update that was released on Wednesday was designed to address a number of bugs including some which caused the application to unexpectedly quit. However readers of AppleInsider have reported that iTunes is now crashing immediately when the program is started.

A thread on Apple’s support forums discusses the issue with several users reporting that their fix was to uninstall the application completely and install iTunes 10.1.1 from scratch.

Some users have also reportedly experienced difficulty with iTunes updating itself as opposed to using the standalone installer.
