To "blow others out of the water"

Virgin shows off TiVo-powered Connected TV

Cable TV and broadband provider Virgin Media has released images showing the user interface of the forthcoming TiVo-powered Connected TV service.

The interface shows a navigation menu on the left hand side including TV Guide, Catch Up & On Demand, Search & brows, My Shows & Recordings, Apps & Games and Help & Settings. Screenshots from popular TV shows appear along the top of the screen in the unsurprisingly red-themed Virgin Media branded interface.

The other screenshots show a search feature (of ‘J’) which is showing hits on movies such as Justified and June, what looks to be an actor profile or bio of Julia Roberts and a music video track, we presume, of Justin Bieber “Somebody to Love”.

The third shot shows the interface for setting up a regular recording of a favourite TV show. The interface appears to be show-oriented rather than channel oriented with the channel name taking something of a back seat.

“Virgin Media’s next generation connected TV service, powered by TiVo and combined with our superior broadband, will blow other connected TV products out of the water,” said Virgin director of Digital Entertainment Cindy Rose.

“It will appeal to anyone and everyone looking for the best of live broadcast TV, catch-up, on-demand and Internet apps and services.”
