Asus has announced a note-taking e-reader called the Eee Note EA800 with an eight-inch greyscale display and stylus compatible display.
The Eee Note EA800 is powered by a Linux-based OS and the greyscale anti-glare screen offers 768×1024 resolution with 64 shades of grey. It’s said to be particularly accurate with regards to the touch pen stylus and accurate to within 0.01mm, equating to over 2500 dpi.
Elsewhere it has a 802.11b/g WiFi, 4GB ROM, micro USB port and 3.5mm earphone jack. Curiously it also features a built-in microphone and a 2 megapixel camera. Greyscale videocalling?
Asus say the EA800 is good for 10 days of standby and over 13 hours of continuous use with the WiFi disabled and 10 hours with it turned on.
Wide document support is included such as the open ePub standard, PDF, music files, images, even Word documents and powerpoint slides.
The company didn’t provide pricing or a release date.
