Graphics specialist Nvidia has launched a new support web site for owners of its GeForce range of PC graphics hardware.
GeForce.com is being described as ‘in beta’ but it’s already a polished source for vital resources such as new graphics card drivers. There’s also a wealth of information on how to get the best performance in certain hardware and games with several optimisation guides published.
As you’d expect there’s a section on hardware which has focus features on various products in desktops and notebooks as well as background information on various aspects of Nvidia technology such as 3D Vision and multi GPU SLI configurations.
The site launch coincides with the launch of Nvidia’s latest and greatest high end graphics card, the GeForce GTX 580 which is the lead feature in the "What’s new" section although there’s plenty more news such as game patches and demos improving, adding support or showing off Nvidia graphics cards.
Regarding the upcoming competition from AMD’s next-generation ‘Cayman’ GPU, Nvidia technical marketing director Tom Petersen was in fighting form telling Tech Radar that compared with the performance of the firm’s brand new GFX 580: "I don’t think it’s going to be close."
However Tech Eye reported on a rumour from Taiwanese manufacturing sources that AMD’s next generation ‘Cayman’, previously tipped to appear in November just in time for the Christmas, has been delayed and will not show up in time.
