A racing game enthusiast has built a PC ‘case mod’ by fitting the internals of a mini ITX PC into a 1:6 scale Corvette ZR3 remote control car.
Inspired by the racing games Blur, mod creator Bill Owen said “I’m so enthusiastic about it that I decided to build a "blur" theme PC based on the Blue ZR1 Corvette from the Beta version.” Owen set about creating the “Project blur” case mode by removing the central chassis and machining a new tray to house the motherboard.
Based on a Jetway NC64 Core 2 Duo ITX motherboard, a quad-core Intel Q9000 CPU, Mushkin Callisto 60GB SSD, Radeon HD 512MB video card and 4GB of RAM, Owen’s project was sponsored by Microsoft (for Windows 7), Mushkin and mini ITV PC retailer Logic Supply and motherboard vendor Jetway. The ‘foundation’ of the mod is a 1:6 scale radio control Corvette by Newbright.
The finished project has an outboard power supply, via a socket on the rear of the car and a slot loading optical drive in the roof. Themodbrothers.com feature has photographs of the build while the YouTube video below actually shows the ‘Project blur’ PC being driven around:
