Nominent UK launches internet advice site

A new educational web site has been launched to help British web users ‘stay safe’ on the Internet. The site is supported by the non-profit organisation Nominet UK, the agency responsible for the .uk Internet infrastructure.

The new website aims is designed to help Internet users get the most out of the Internet by providing advice, information and video content for consumers and business users. Nominet is targeting users looking to get started online, including blogging, social networking and online banking, as well as staying safe with security and privacy settings advice. is also targeting businesses by explaining the issues that Nominent says are key to understanding what businesses need to know in order to do business online including search engine optimisation and intellectual property.

“Information is only a click away on the Internet. The challenge is that often people don’t always know what to trust, or where to go. Free, impartial advice is hard to come by,” said Nominet marketing boss Phil Kingsland.

“We’ve launched the knowthenet site to bridge this knowledge gap, addressing concerns and offering impartial, useful advice which gives people the confidence and know-how to do more online.”

The new site aims to provide a starting point for people to gather information on how to get more out of the Internet, pointing users to other trusted Internet resources such as GetSafeOnline and for more detailed information.
