Angry birds arrives on Android

Mobile games developer Rovio has released the Android version of the hit Angry Birds game which has so far been downloaded by more than 7 million users.

Rovio said that the free version of Angry Birds had so far been installed 13 million times, making it one of the most popular mobile games of all time. The free Android version requires Android 1.6 and up and features in-app advertising from AdMob.

The 12MB Android version has 150 levels and has although it has just appeared on the Marketplace it has a five star rating and has been downloaded more than 250,000 times. A paid version will appear which will remove the AdMob advertising.

Rovio said each of the 150 levels requires “logic, skill and force” to solve as the Angry Birds dish out revenge on greedy pigs who stole their eggs. Players may use the “unique powers” of each bird to destroy the greedy pig fortresses.
