Entry-level and higher spec models available from next month

Dixons launches Advent tablet range

Dixons Retail has launched its own range of tablet devices, with prices starting at £130.

The entry-level Advent Amico features a seven-inch touchscreen, wi-fi connection and camera. It runs the Android 2.1 operating system and is priced at £129.99.

The other device in the range, the Advent Vega, sports a capacitive multi-touch 10.1-inch screen and an Nvidia Tegra 2 dual core 1GHz processor, which Dixons claims makes it “more powerful than many netbooks”.

The Vega runs Android 2.2 and comes with a 4GB SD memory card, a 1.3MP camera and wi-fi, priced at £249.99.

Jeremy Fennell, category director at Dixons Retail said; “We expect tablets to take the computing market by storm and become one of the most popular gifts this Christmas.

“While top of the range tablets may be all singing and dancing, the Advent Amico is a great, no frills, starter product. The Advent Vega meanwhile offers those who want more from their tablets a quality, performance product at a very affordable price.”

The devices will be in Currys and PC World stores from November 1st.
