A recruitment company has said that the UK is experiencing increased demand for social media experts to manage Twitter and Facebook for companies.
PeoplePerHour.com said that social media consultant positions have been on the rise 300 per cent year on year as more and more businesses turn to social media sites to communicate their products and services to the connected generation.
"We’re seeing increasing demand for social media experts to oversee the Twitter feeds and Facebook pages of a very wide variety of companies,” said PeoplePerHour.com boss Xenios Thrasyvoulou.
"It’s a profession that’s likely to continue to grow. The feedback we’re getting from the small business sector suggests that if companies aren’t paying attention to social media, they’re missing significant marketing and sales opportunities.”
The company also said that the UK was trailing US adoption of social networking platforms.
