ACS Law, the law firm that is best known for sending out hundreds of letters to internet users demanding recompense for alleged file sharing, has had its email servers hacked.
According to Torrent Freak, the firm had its website taken down by a DDoS attack last week, and then a fault was discovered with its website that allowed someone to access the company’s private email accounts.
The attacks on the ACS Law website among others is apparently part of a sustained campaign, called ‘Operation Payback is a Bitch’, that targets anti-piracy groups including the RIAA, the MPAA, AFACT and the BPI.
The extra attention garnered towards ACS Law seems to have come about following the DDoS attack on the company’s website, when its owner Andrew Crossley remarked: “I have far more concern over the fact of my train turning up 10 minutes late or having to queue for a coffee than them wasting my time with this sort of rubbish.”
The attacks have now focused on Mr. Crossley himself, who has now been a victim of prank calling over the weekend and has now had much of his personal life, including heated exchanges with his ex-wife and private correspondence with clients, posted online.
