Windows Phone 7 to launch on all major UK networks

Microsoft has announced that Windows Phone 7 smartphones will be available from the ‘big five’ UK network operators.

The company said "later this year" by way of a launch but Microsoft COO Kevin Turner had earlier said that Windows Phone 7 would launch in October in Europe and November for the US.

The company also said that The Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4u would be carrying Windows Phone 7 handsets.

"Following our announcement at Mobile World Congress that Orange will be our lead partner, it is wonderful now to have all of the UK’s network operators supporting the launch of Windows Phone 7," said Microsoft Mobile boss Alex Reeve.

"This means we can provide network choice and also a range of phones across networks for customers to choose from, all with the power of Windows Phone 7. We are thrilled to be working in partnership with these major industry players."

"All the UK’s network operators" appears to refer to the actual wired networks but it’s unclear if resellers such as Virgin and Tesco will also be offering Windows Phone 7 devices.
