Twitter has re-engineered its ubiquitous social networking site to allow users access to more information about a particular tweet or tweeter, and offer more options for embedding content.
The timeline retains its familiar layout, but each tweet can be drilled down into to find out more about the subject of user through a slide out info pane.
Media can also be embedded directly onto a tweet as opposed to relying on an external link, thanks to new deals with YouTube, DailyBooth, DeviantART, Etsy, Flickr, Justin.TV, Kickstarter, Kiva, Photozou, Plixi, Twitgoo, TwitPic, TwitVid, USTREAM, Vimeo, and yfrog.
Meanwhile, an infinite scroll option has removed the need to click ‘more’ at the bottom of the feed.
The changes are being previewed to few selected accounts before a comprehensive roll out.
A statement on the site’s official blog read: "Twitter has always been about getting a lot in a little. The constraint of 140 characters drives conciseness and lets you quickly discover and share what’s happening. Yet, we’ve learned something since starting Twitter—life doesn’t always fit into 140 characters or less."
