HP extends printer EMEA sales lead

The EMEA market for printers grew by 8.8 per cent in Q2 year-on-year according to a new report from market research outfit Context.

HP built on their market leadership position with 39.4 per cent of market share in the region, up from 38 per cent the previous quarter. Canon followed on 18.4 per cent, then Epson on 14.6 per cent, Samsung on 6.9 per cent and Lexmark on 5.4 per cent.

All-in-one printers dominated with the largest grown in combined laser printers according to Context, with sales of all-in-one products up 46.3 per cent in compared to a year ago. The UK market also performed well in Europe, again with the all-in-one categoriy leading the charge with a 27 per cent growth over the previous year.

“The declining love affair of consumers with single-function inkjet printers over the same period was reflected in a sales drop for the category of 21.8 percent, while AIO inkjet printer sales grew 5.3 percent,” said Context CEO Jeremy Davies.
