Asus makes big noise with N53 and N73 notebooks

Asus has launched the N53 and N73 laptops with SonicMaster technology developed in conjunction with audio gurus Bang & Olufsen.

The Taiwanese electronics giant claimed that the new N series from is the world’s first laptops to address the problem of sub-standard audio on portable PCs. The N53 and N73 are based on Intel Core i5 processors and sport 15.6 and 17.3-inch screens.

The new Asus models also offer Nvidia GeForce 400M graphics parts and incorporate the Optimus technology in order to switch between integrated and discreet graphics to save power. 

"SonicMaster isn’t a gimmick, but a new professional audio certification programme for portable computers. SonicMaster-compliant laptops like the new N Series incorporate large speaker chambers, more powerful amplifiers and extensive software processing to deliver breathtaking audio fidelity," said the company.

The Asus N53 and N73 will be available in the UK from a number of retailers and etailers including Comet, Micro Anvika, Selfridges and The N53 starts at £649 while the larger N73 goes for around £999.

The company said the N53 would arrive in Comet in "early november". As a launch promotion Asus is holding a suitably audio-related competition for tickets to the London Philharmonic Orchestra perform The Lord of the Rings at The Royal Albert Hall.
